If you own one of our WordPress Themes you already know that our pricing model changed this year, and now — instead of buying every update as they come — you support our Themes on a monthly basis and receive every update of any Theme as they come.
The basis of a monthly fixed support both enables us and encourages us to put more work hours towards themes, and then particularly our best seller Old Newspaper. And right now we are one patron away from our goal which marks the release of the next update.
The coming update is split in two phases. First we are polishing what we already have. Small cosmetic updates. Smoother infinite scroll. Better navigation, and a brand new commenting system. The update is already 80% complete, and it really takes the Old Newspaper Theme to the next level.
After the initial polishing update is released, we will head straight into the creation of two brand new styles (as in the Gray, Oxidized and White seen on the picture above). These new styles however will be more playful than the others, and have a few purely cosmetic options added onto them — one being a “price tag” area in the header, to simulate a real newspaper.
How we use Patreon and why there is a cup of coffee on the image
So why did I put a picture of a cup of coffee in the top of this article. Well, we are using Patreon, which is a great tool. It is a monthly support system, where you sign up for a small sum each month (aka the price of a coffee), and then you have all updates of all our Themes available to you, in addition to being part of the community whose feedback is most heeded when new updates are about to come out.
So if you will be an active user of one of our Themes, I strongly advise you to be active with your feedback right there on Patreon.
How we license our WordPress Themes
Most people use our WordPress Themes for one personal site, so when you sign up with us there is an initial fee of $39 which gives you one license for using any Theme on one site. When you’ve paid that, you may download the newest version of all our Themes and keep them forever, as long as you only use them on one site (not one site per Theme; one site all in all). For more licenses, contact us and we’ll make you a deal.
So clearly you don’t have to be a patron, but if you choose to stay after the initial payment, it’s only $3 a month to get continuous updates, and $5 if you want support as well. Being a patron is an investment in the WordPress Themes themselves, as it allows us to put more time and energy into them.
