What is on your heart?

For coffee fact #4 I was aiming to find out which countries consume the most coffee, hoping—and imagining to have heard—that we in Sweden were somewhere on the top of the list.

The problem is, all the lists I’ve found differs a whole lot, but Sweden is definitely up there. All the Nordic countries rank close to the top, and some coffee-blogs even suggest it’s because of our climate. Cold weather, warm coffee. Correlation, anyone?

Since coffee is highly useful and relevant to people of the digital age, we are sharing some cool coffee facts from time to time on this blog.

Coffee is the fuel for the tech industry

I, of course, think the clear correlation with the high consumption is found in Sweden being a “Tech Superstar from the North“. Digital products are, as we all know, produced from caffeine and love—or something like that. Maybe the next coffee related study should be in regards to the correlation between tech development and coffee consumption. Just throwing the idea out there.

However, since I can’t really rank the countries by coffee consumption per capita, I want to put down another clear fact instead:

About a third of all the worlds coffee comes from Brazil, and in the 1920’s, they stood for about 80% of the entire world’s coffee [source]. This number keeps declining as the production is getting more and more spread out.

There is that fact for all you fact-hungry coffee drinkers.
